Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    RTE wrote:
The proposed redevelopment of Lansdowne Road hit a potential stumbling block after Wanderers, one of two tenant clubs at the stadium, voiced their concerns to Dublin City Council.

The club, whose 'pavilion' is sited in the stadium, announced they have yet to reach an agreement with the IRFU for the provision of alternative facilities when the pavilion is demolished.

They also point out that they have a licence that runs until 2017, which includes a licence for the use of the playing pitches.

The IRFU responded by issuing a statement of its own, expressing the organisation's disappointment that the current impasse had been brought into the public arena 'despite lengthy negotiations and the offer of a very generous compensation package'.

    The package includes:
    * A replacement, fully equipped clubhouse within the existing Lansdowne Road grounds.
    * Complimentary use of a hospitality suite for international rugby matches throughout the lifespan of the new stadium.
    * An offer to provide a financial grant to make improvements to Wanderers' Merrion Road clubhouse and grounds.
    * Financial compensation for loss of income to cover the period during which the club will not have the use of Lansdowne Road because of its re-construction.
    * An extension of licence agreement beyond 2017 at Lansdowne Road for the life span of the new stadium.

Work on the E365 million redevelopment of the stadium is scheduled to start early next year, subject to planning permission, with the project due to be completed within 27 months.

what do you make of this? is this the start of all the objections? If the development gets delayed, we might not even need Croke Park for this campaign! If someone is complaining about something as little as getting a clubhouse in the ground, then we should fully expect residents to complain about the 27 months of building work that will go on behind their houses.

it should go ahead no matter how many objections there are. it benefits the country as a whole and a tiny minority should shut up and let the dam thing go ahead before the whole thing turns into 'eircom park' or 'the bertie bowl'.

jes... and they tell us irish people dont complain enough  if this was a bypass, it'd plough through everything and steamroller over the people in it's way, the same should be done here.

ah sure while we're at it we should knock down listed buildings and burn off forests once its in the name of progress!

seriously they have a right to object to the situation, but that offer they're getting looks really good and the whole situation smells of greed

I play down in Wanderers and I was told the other day that the offer being made by the IRFU isn't actually all that good.

this is the only offer i've seen i thought that this was good, but its boards.ie the offer could be slightly different, but seeing as b man took it from RTE i'd tend to believe its truth, also b man is a reliable source

Developers get go-ahead for Lansdowne Road redevelopment
    Tue Aug 1, 2006 9:41 AM BST162

DUBLIN, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Town planners have given Ireland's Lansdowne Road, home of Irish rugby and soccer, the green light for a planned 365 million euro ($465.6 million) facelift, paving the way for work to start on its revamp as an all-seater venue.

"The Irish Rugby Football Union warmly welcomes the notification from Dublin City Council of their decision to grant planning for the re-development of Lansdowne Road, while respecting that there remains some way to go in the process," IRFU President Peter Boyle said of Monday's decision.

"The importance of this project for the future well being of the whole of Irish rugby can not be overstated."

Developers applied in January for permission to redevelop Lansdowne Road, an ageing stadium in the heart of an upmarket Dublin residential district, as a 50,000-all-seater stadium.

Work on the project is expected to start in 2007 and scheduled for completion by July 2009.

Ireland's national rugby and soccer teams will play their matches at the Gaelic Athletics Association's showcase venue, Croke Park, while work is being carried out at Lansdowne Road.
