So, here's the deal. In the corner of our utility sits the cylinder. I'm going to frame this off, and make a hot press, with shelves above the cylinder. Is there a recommended material to sheet the outside (and for a couple of doors), eg chipboard, mdf, ply etc.?

If there is no difference then which is the cheapest? Being in the utility, I'm not too worried about aesthetics.

    Hi noby,

The utility usually means water be it from washing machines, dryers or sinks so I would avoid chipboard.

I think Ply is a cheaper option to MDF (could be wrong) and more forgiving for the DIY jobs, no offence meant ;)

None taken. I know my limitations.
    Cheers.
