Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bus service from Stepaside to Sandyford Luas

Seems logical that Dublin Bus should develop feeder buses to Luas for outlying areas. They are so slow to develop new services for areas that are crying out for public transport.

So I was surprised to receive a flyer from Alpine Coaches, a private operator who are providing a return service from Stepaside to Luas Sandyford starting next week. Service runs every half hour from 6.30 am to 9 am, then every hour during day until 16.50 then runs on half hour. Last bus from Stepaside at 19.30. Route goes via Stepaside, Kilternan, Glenamuck, Ballyogan, Murphystown Rd, to Sandyford Luas.

Hope the competition gets Dublin Bus thinking beyond the obvious traditional routes they run.

The crew in Kildare Street won't let Dublin Bus start new routes, nor will they give Dublin Bus the money to get extra buses, its wrapped up in the privatisation mess

All that said Dublin Bus never really made much effort to get the DART feeder bus system to work thats one of the reasons the DART isn't being pushed to its design limit

Dublin Bus do operate buses from Stepaside (Belarmine) that operate via Sandyford Industrial Estate and would serve the LUAS:

    Route 46B at 06:30, 07:00, 07:30, 08:00 and 08:30
Return departures from Mountjoy Square are at 17:00, 17:30 and 18:00

These are as yet not in the public timetable but they are fully operational.

Also, route 118 departs Kilternan at 0745 and another bus leaves Belarmine at 0750, both of which serve Brewery Road (adjacent to Sandyford LUAS).

The real reason DB won't feed the Luas is because it's not under CIE ;)

I'm aware of both these services, no thanks to DB who have still not adjusted their online timetables or publicised the 46B existence. They are hardly full services, considering they are only available at peak hours. My post was to highlight another option which will run during the day and which is targeted as a feeder service to Luas.

There's a Bus Eireann Service from Wicklow town via Rathnew, Ashford, Newcastle, Newtownmountkennedy, Kilmacanogue and Bray Main Street (Route 133A) to Sandyford Luas.

    Timetable is here:

No, DB consider themselves in competition with everyone, including it's sister companies.
