Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Just to let everyone know.

    http://www.evertonfc.com/news/index.php?page_id=9294
    YOUNG SIDE TAKE ON BOHEMIANS

Everton will send a young side to play Irish outfit Bohemians in April.

A Toffees side, expected to be made up mainly of promising youngsters from the club, will take on Bohemians on April 25.

Former Everton midfielder Gareth Farrelly is player-manager of the Irish side, and will pit his men against an Everton XI which will be lead by Andy Holden.

Seem Bohs are keeping it failry quiet, most likely in the hope that tickets will be snapped up before people cop on.

After the apparent jersey nonsense it seems Bohs fans may have some questions to ask of their hierarchy...

    EVERTON SQUAD FOR DUBLIN TRIP

Everton have named their squad to take on Bohemians on Tuesday evening.

It is a young group, made up of reserve and academy players.

Victor Anichebe, a second half substitute for the first team against Birmingham on Saturday, is included in the squad.

And 19-year-old goalkeeper John Ruddy is between the sticks for the Toffees, who are coached by Andy Holden.

The action gets underway at Bohemians' Dalymount Park ground at 7.30pm on Tuesday, with reports on evertonfc.com.

Everton from: Ruddy, Irving, Wright, Hughes, Dennehy, Phelan, Kissock, Harris, Anichebe, Hopkins, Vidarsson, Wynne, Jones, Seargant, Connor, Molyneux, Elder.

Fair play to Bohs for keeping it on the hush.

No need for a spoiler! Imagine paying €20 to see Bohs and Everton u18's draw 0-0...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭blu_sonic

i want t say imagine paying €20 to see boez end of, but i'm far too nice to say that.

The Everton striker looked decent - think he made his debut against Birmingham last week, think the average age of the two teams in the second half was around 18.

How did the barstoolers take it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

^ Does it matter? Why are so many eL fans so hung up about what the 'barstoolers' think?

To me that just shows a total sense of insecurity in what you believe in yourself. It is actually embarrassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭blu_sonic

was refering to the Everton barstoolers, the reason I mention it is because Boez advertised the game as an "almost full strength Everton side". I'd ask what did you think of anything that was falsly advertised.

And i think we should care what barstoolers tink, I know some die hards who were former barstoolers, they were conerted by the good showing of the EL and now support various EL clubs

At this point Blu, I honestly dont care. I am sick of hearing of these fellas coming to a City game, and moaning about everything for 90 minutes.

I'd rather they just stayed away. If they went to a game with an open mind, fine, but most dont.

The irishtoffees are all crying claiming that theyre more Irish than Bohs.

Tbh they should be more worried about the relegation threat theyll be facing in the next couple of years as a lot of the squad they brought over are beggining to breaking into their first team.

Im not too interested in what they thought of Bohs false advertising, they wouldnt have come back either way. Also found it funny that they tried to clap for the minutes silence. The ref had to restart it.

I know what you mean, the whinger that bangs on about wayne rooney and david beckham being better than the "crap" he's "having" to endure! they are Aholes no question, but there is 1 good thing about them, The club just relieved them of the entrance fee (andif they keep banging on the get a slap ;))

But if 10 barstoolers show up and 1 sticks about its worth it imo, I recon every clubs fan base is increasing so thats got to be a good thing

That was a pretty weak squad they sent, I'd prefer to pay €20 and see Bohs v Pats :D

Out of the full 20 strong squad that travelled, two of those had made one substitute apperance each, one of them as the only keeper available. None of the rest have figured in the first team or are likely to any time soon.

    Do try and keep up.

Well at least they got to clap and do a silence ;)

And saying that all Irishtoffees are crying claiming they are more Irish etc etc is such typical crap I hear everyweek when I go down to see Bohs.
Then I look up into the stand and see the "casuals" dressed like English hooligans !

From what Ive heard Liverpool is more Irish than Dublin, The scousers fed the Irish when we were starving. The first ever cathedral was built in Everton and the tower on the crest represents glendalough - all reasons to support Everton ahead of an Irish team but to hate their national team.

I could have sworn John Paul Kissock was supposed to be the next Rooney with the two strikers supposedly class acts.

From Wikipedia : "The football club Everton F.C. is named for the area, after the location of their first ground, St. Domingo's Church. The district is also the location of the team's crest image, an old bridewell known as Prince Rupert's Tower."

St Domingo's is a Methodist church so the Irish links you mentioned are tenuous at best.

Im just repeating what Everton fans are saying, I have no problem with who people want to support but I find the reasoning of following Celtic/Everton/Liverpool/ManU etc because they are Irish ridiculuos.
