Your wrong - every part of the North of the Island has had at least one shower today and believe it or not on the local weather forecast I was amazed to see inland area's gettin copious amount of the white stuff.
The showers were driven well inland which bodes well for you guys!

If Weathercheck sees this then he'll have a heart attack!

Bond-007: There is a decent breeze out there which may bring showers further inland later on tonight... don't give up.

With the exception of Rosslare, Valentia and Belmullet (due to onshore breezes) all winds are either NW or W, this does indeed show that there is a shift in the airflow, showers will dive across the country from Sligo bay later on tonight, and will hit most parts bar Wexford and Waterford (due to mountains on their northern borders)

So in Dublin even we could still wake up to a dusting? I'm not signing up for metcheck premium again this year, no way :)

Seems to be a little more breezy outside now and the wind coming from more of a NW direction.

Looking at the animation over the last few hours wouldn't inspire much hope in showers pushing over this far, they seem to fizzle out somewhere around Longford. Boo.

Snow very close by - orange hue in the sky above the town.

Temps up from -2.1c to -1.9c. breezier now too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Seems like the shower on the 0030 slipped by to the west of me - down by the Cullohill Hill/Spa Hill range into NW Kilkenny and NE Tipperary...

The next shower looks like hitting head on.

really strange up here hail then snow then hail then snow Im sure u guys down south probably gettin the same as me when the showers move in:confused:

right if I am goin by today Irish sea is feedin me in these local hevy hail showers cause all the snow is being clipped by western showers few miles to my west- ie Carrick Ballyclare etc check this out -

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4757960.stm

    Makes sense

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34 kaizer

To put that in perspective I am 9 miles away from Ballyclare and 12 miles away from Carrick - That just shows how localised these snow showers are as I am right in the middle of both towns.
Mad eh!!!! I hardly get nothin and they snowed under- U get my Drift (no pun intended)

the showers seem to break up completely once they pass the Shannon/Athlone areas:( doubt im gonna see anything here in the east.

Danno good radar but I am a member of a few radars and they don't pick up homegrown heavy showers- EVER

The Irish sea is a wonder - especially in a major northerly

no snow here anyway. -1 at shannon airpor and the 0206 z weather report from there says clear.

metcheck has a 100 percent chance of snow though for limerick for the next few hours.

At the end of the day the wind has now switched North Westerly till at least Saturday - Forget Eastern England Or Eastern Scotland -

WE have all the fun now - ALL of Ireland and Wales with the major snow now with a few showers cuttin into West Scotland and west England.

    Enjoy!!!!!
