Sure it was too good to last and the Greeks have caught up with us . A survey published by the CSO today indicates that Greek and Slovakian businesses are as likely to have BB as Irish ones .....and we all know how slow Greece was starting off.

Our penetration rate is 48% as against 80% of businesses who have BB in developed countries and an EU average of 63%
The level of broadband access for business in Greece, Cyprus, Latvia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia was similar to Ireland’s.

God be with the days when we used to look down on the Greeks , time to apologise now :) sorry Greece. As for Estonia .....67%

Lots more dismal reading on the same lines to be found here including domestic BB penetration .

We DO have one smidge of good news as predicted by this Sponge !!!!!!!

    Page 6 .

54.9% of Irish Households Have A PC , but do have they Functional Internet Access ???? Do they **** :(

Thats 54.9% in June 2005 (page 5 of that linked report) which is precisely around when McRedmond and Dempsey and Comreg were busy peddling lies saying we had much Much Lower PC Penetration at around 42% than was the case ....and should anyone care to remember seeing as it was only last year that we had to listen to that disingenous bollox .

The CSO have nailed that lie so we won't have to wait for the full census in April (publishing around the end of the year) to find out that over 55% of homes have a PC .

Slovenia is not backward now. 12 years ago their Amateur radio was running 1.2Mbps packet data. Now the Wireless packet work is mostly 10Mbps. Here we have 1200bps packet. We can't blame Eircom for everything. We just are not as technologically orientated as we think we are.

I said Slovakia Watty Not Slovenia ...which of is course a technologically advanced former component of Yugoslavia and where 74% of businesses have BB as compared to 48% here and where 40% of Internet Using Households have BB as compared to 16% of Internet Using Households here.

Slovenia is advanced like Ireland only pretends to be advanced .
