Shocker... no thread and a days play nearly gone!

Flintoff called correctly and bat first (no surprise!)

    England 245/7 (88.4 ov)

Alistair Cook did well on debut, 60, but that was about the only highlight so far. Collingwood got to 50, Flintoff to 40, but the other established players not featuring.

yeah..sorry i was waiting till it ended before i posted.

think eng are going to post a very below par score (for that pitch) unless the tailenders do something special.

It's all up to collingwood now, Hoggy will keep giving him the strike and trying to stay in, maybe 300+ is possible, still not good enough though.

the likes of Pieterson, Bell, and even Jones really will be kicking themselves

a really poor day for england, fairplay to the Alistair Cook lad, looked very composed, which on the sub-continent can prove your best asset, Flintoff i thought played well, but the right decision by the umpire, its easy for us, with the aid of replays to say it wasnt out, but at first glance, in realtime, he looked out

i just hope collingwood can add at least 50 to that measly score, and then let the bowlers do their job, but im predicting a MASSIVE score for india, :(

I'm guessing his wife has had enough of being a Cricket widow, she's got one child to look after and is pregnant.

    Mike.

Yeah touring puts huge pressure on the family life...away from home for a couple of months every year.

    Ha ha wouldn't blame her...

What is a good score for england to restrict them to? 400?

When you look at the batting to come it looks like an uphill struggle, I was impressed by monty panesar on his test debut, could be a long term solution to englands spin problem.

England rules! Given the preparations for this test they've done relly well. Though Pieterson has been very lucky, twice.

    Mike.

Indeed... England deserved the victory IMO but what can ya do?

And in Monty Panesar we've found a real gem... Sayonara, Blackwell...
