our guidance counsellor told us that even if you get the points for your desired course, the cao can just randomly select applicants so you may not even get it. this true? if it is, how fecking cruel!

If there;s 4 places left on a course, and it goes down to 350 points, and 5 people have 350 and that course as their best choice...what else can they do? It's only the people who would barely scrape in that it affects.

    it's the system

    It's called random selection

occours if a star is beside the course

    get over it

    get over it

I was only asking. Some schools have terrible guidance counsellors who don't offer the right help.

It's something like when you apply to the CAO originally in February, you get your CAO number and there's also a random number assigned to you that's nothing to do with where you're going to school or your exam number or whatever. Then if your top choice is 400* and there's 1 place left but lots of people also had it as their first choice and you all had 400, then the person with the highest random number would be offered the place. Or that's how it was explained to us anyway
