I actually heard as far back as last Wednesday that Bebo was on the shortlist for being B7ed, because of the fact that so many people used it

If anyone is to 'blame' (and I'm using the term blame in the loosest possible terms), it's the techies who are just doing what it is they get payed to do...

WOW he said a few words to the techie about a site (that they knew nothing about) being used to much (by over 60+ people at one time) and only he got it banned... i must go to the techies and complain about so many people using boards.ie (another site they know nothing about) as i can't get a pc but secretly i'll try get it banned :rolleyes:

What shay said about people using it to cheat in exams makes the feckin most sense in this thread, well that and the fact people send porn in thier bebo mails as well as other banned material and of course the fact that 100's of people are taking up pcs that are generaly need for better things.

Ok, I sat back and kind of pondered this one.
If some how paul managed to get bebo banned on his own there is still no need to go around like a little snitch playing the blame game. The people responsible for getting bebo banned are the people who use it pubicly and openly. I kow for a good source also (the person themselves) that he is not responsible.

In light of this and according to the charter some bannings are in order. Unreal Queen you have several previous bannings on this board so you are gone for good. I am Xavier, you jumped on the bandwagon so you will get a month ban as indicated by the charter.
I know daithimac passed comment but it was a passing one and did not mention names so I'm leaving him be.

If people are willing to let me know how they came to the conclusion it was paul that I might re consider but despite the fact that not a hugh amount of people post here, a lot of people read it. including the lecturers. Paul uses his s4dd tag for several other things and it would not take a jenious to figure out who he is. It was unfair and just plane stupid to do that.

ye no matter what anyone says, the techies see s4dd as a regualr student, who gets the regualr treatment and has the same power as any other student. if i decided i had a beef with yahoo then i couldnt just go into the techioes office and get them to ban it. however, if all the computers (which are for academic use) were being used for yahoo and hindering my learning experience, then i might have a case, but under them circumstances, yahoo or wherever would be getting blocked anyway.

god, this was an interesting read. I dont care either way about bebo, but as I said before, it was going to get banned before the end of the week and it did. BTW, the college dont close websites down to stop people sending messages because of exams.. ha. Comp Services dont care about your exams. I think the stuff people called s4dd shows what a bunch of losers you are. S4DD is the man!! He get's rep from me.

As stevenk said, the college can easily realise themselves if a website is getting alot of hits. Remember when kontraband.com was going around, everybody was using it, it got banned in a few days too.

in all fairness some people have work to do, id be cracking up if i needed a machine and all i could see around me was people using bebo.
id be surprised if the techs didnt get more than 10 complaints about bebo and how useless it was
