New Eircom Stats?

Anyone noticed the redesigned Eircom D/L stats page? ( http://dslstats.eircom.net )

It shows the following information...

Total Downloads to date this month: 0
Total Uploads to date this month: 0
Total Time Online this month: 00:00
Download Carryover: +DLCARRYOVER MB
Download Allowance: 20480 MB
Download Purchased: +DLPURCHASED MB
Total Download Allowance: 20480 MB
Percent of Total Allowance used to Date: 0%

Carryover? Download Purchased? Did I miss a meeting??

Just noticed that, but my download allowance now seems to be only 4G according to that page instead of the 20G it should be. :eek:

No surprise really.'Twas going to happen sooner or later.
I posted a service bulletin a couple of months back saying they were upgrading their billing system and advising customers to check their usage stats regularly so they pretty much signaled it hen.
I'm more intrigued by the "Carryover" bit.

Maybe if you go over your limit by 1Mb then they will charge you for 1G and what you don't then use of that is the carry over?

Hmm, will they charge for exceed of upload limit as well? I don’t even know what my upload limit is? It was 1GB before the upgrade, but now it seems to be unlimited for upload and 20 GB for download? How would I know about my upload limit?

That could be it. Can't see them carrying over all unused allowance. In fairness though, if they are now going to charge for exceeding the allowance, does this mean I can expect a refund for only using about 30% of my allowance last month ? :rolleyes:

about time they started charging for lads abusing the bandwidth, especially when they were bringing down the quality of service down for everybody at times. Maybe now the Eircom network will flow a bit better for everyone. If you really need more than 30+gigs per month then pay for it.

Just noticed that today.......this is 4 days into the new month and my stats page has still got a big ZERO in dloads, i still believe that Eircom would have a hard time trying to charge people for over dloading if their stats page is most of the time.......never updating...

The upload limit on the 1mb home starter package is 1GB. It is unlimited upload on home plus (2mb/256k) and home professional (3mb/384k).

I’m not sure which one I have. I subscribed to the 1MB/128KB, but then they increased speeds to 2MB/256KB and download limit to 20GB. Does it mean that I have Home plus now (and therefore unlimited upload limit)?

You're on home plus with unlimited upload.

I got a letter from them the other day saying that the Home Starter pack has a new name of Home Plus.....
With higher download allowance: 8G to 20 G
Higher download/upload speed: 1 Mbps/128kps to 2 Mbps/256 Kbps...
at no extra cost.

Anyone else get this?

The site does not even work for me? Says "Incorrect login" sometimes and then "0" stats. Has the site frozen. Eircom couldn't possibily start charging everyone for going over the cap. They should only charge the free loaders who abuse the lines with insane amounts.

But it does look like they are going to start tracking our usage and maybe charge.

FFS, they couldn't charge anyone yet; how could they, the fields on the stats page are open to interpretation they need to tell users whats what.

And yes 4 days into the month and no update, you can't make a judgement on what you have left from no stats.

"Carryover", as in at the last day of the month you connect (stay online all nite) and that carrys over into the next month.

NTL should kick you off their network as YOU must be affecting other users on your node!!!

Why should he...? When you use a service with a contention ratio you are accepting that there will be busy times; what people do at any time is up to them. I don't see the argument

checked my stats this morning and everything seems to have returned to the old system with no mention of carry forwards ...purchased allowances etc etc ....

yeah, noticed that as well. Last night the stats showed carryed-over and purchased, and this morning its back to the old system. Eircom are playing with us...
