The Mazda 3 uses the same platform as the Ford Focus, the 1.6 Tdi has 110bhp and is the same unit used by Ford/Volvo/Peugeot and Citroen.

I've got a Mazda3 Touring 1.4 petrol (hatch) and I'm very happy with it.
I've got it just over a year now.
A standard service comes in at 110 odd in the main dealer.
It's solid out, comfy to drive with a firm enough ride.
I think the 1.4 petrol is a little underpowered for motorway driving, but the 1.6TDI looks well up for it.

    Any questions in particular?

resale won't be top notch, but it's a pretty likeable car, especially with that engine. Kinda prefer this body though

Just opinions on Mazda in general. I heard that they are fairly reliable?
