Estate Agents - False Advertising??

    Hey there...

Recently seen a house advertised on Daft (under an estate agents name), price on the house was "Region: €240,000". When we viewed the house there was a bid of €235,000 so we bid €240,000, since then there has been another bid and the current bid (which is ours) is €243,000.

I logged on to Daft this morning and the house is now advertised as "Region: €255,000", €15,000 MORE than the original ad!! Is this allowed?? Its obvious what the greedy agent is doing! He's deliberately increasing the advertised price so that when people view the house and see the current bid at €243,000, they'll think the current bid is low and as a result will bid higher than us!

The estate agent told us at the time of viewing the house that the house isnt even worth €250,000, but now hes advertising it for more than that.

Is this allowed by law? Is there any advertising law to cover this?

Thanks for your help and advice.

I dont't think there is a case for things like this, buyers set the price, not the seller.

Now things like on "proposed Luas route" is really pushing it when the only person proposing it is the estate agent.
