Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lo!

I've a radio show tonight from about 6.30pm to about 10pm (it's usually 7 to 9pm but it's been extended because of a football match that's on that we're taking reports from).

Anyway, I've got three prizes to give away tonight, in the form of one 16", one 12" and one 9" pizza from the local Apache pizza. For the moment, I've decided to let people enter simply by phoning or texting the station with their name/number and a reason why they deserve free food & I was basically going to pull 3 names out of a 'hat' on the air.

Has anyone any suggestions how I can jazz the competition up a bit? .. - especially considering that a) there may not be a huge number of entries and b) we've only one phone line hooked up to the studio mixing desk so we can't have two contestants up against each other in an on-air quiz (much as I'd love to!).

    Cheers,

since there's a football match on ask them to ring in/text in with the best/funniest football chant they can, with the theme of pizza

If you had a hole the size of a pizza, how big would it need to be for a football to go through it? 19", 16" OR 12"?

Prize for the funniest completion of "How many footballers does it take to bake a pizza?"
(My answer, just one if you give him enough dough, ha! ha!)

How many pizzas were sold in Dublin during the World Cup in Italy? I don't know the answer, possibly nobody does, but a football-pizza connection like this must exist somewhere.

All I can think of for now. I'm off for my mid-morning pizza - from Apache, of course...

It's the Dundalk Community Radio station.

I absolutely hate these types of competitions... we have them banned at NEAR.

But back when I was in college I used to have an amusing radio competition where each friday one lucky contestent would be in with a chance to win up to €10,000 live on air. To be in with the chance the person had to be the first to run up to the studio as soon as the competition was announced... when they got there they would be presented with a National Lottery Scratch Card which would be scratched live on air... the suspense was amazing.
