    Report:
The Vikings won the opening game of the IAFL season by beating last years Shamrock Bowl finalists, Belfast Bulls 20-0 in Limerick.

The Vikings defense had Belfast pinned in their own half for most of the 1st quarter. Their offense go going early in the second quarter with some good runs from Andrew Gordan. Then fullback Glen Carr gave them a 6-0 lead with a 9 yard run. The Vikings got their second score of the game in the final minute of the first have. Quarterback Jeremiah Sexton broke away on a 3rd and long play, running in for a touchdown. Gordan got the 2 point conversion.

Belfast came out the stronger team in the second half and moved the ball through Mark McGrath. On their first 2 drives of the 3rd quarter managed to get the ball inside the Vikings 20 yard line, however the Vikings defense, led by Liam Ryan and Liam Hayes held strong. Also, at one point in the quarter, the Bulls defense, led by Mark Helferty and Carl Ward forced the Vikings into punt formation on 4th and 10 inside the Vikings 10 yard line. However, the Vikings called a risky fake punt with Carr carrying the ball for a first down.

The Vikings sealed victory in the 4th quarter when RB Andrew Gordon, who had over 100 yards game, ran for 50 yards to give UL first and goal from the 9.
