    Hi,
    Does anybody know if there is anything happening in Bray for Patricks Day? Is there a parade and amusements like last year? Would you recommend it? If you can help, thanks!

    After the phenomenally-successful re-launch last year of St Patrick’s festivities in Bray, Bray & District Chamber has unveiled an even bigger and brighter family festival for all to enjoy in 2006. The largest such family celebration of our National Holiday on the East Coast, Bray Chamber is promising a “rollercoaster” weekend of family entertainment suitable for every age group – from four to 84!


    The 2006 Bray St Patrick’s Carnival & Parade promises 5 days of family and community celebration, music, fireworks and carnival fun by the seaside! This event would not be possible without the very generous support of Lead Sponsor Bray Town Council as well as Corporate Sponsors Bray Town Centre, DART, Wicklow 400 and Bird’s EuroShow Funfair, and Event Patrons Bray Seafront Traders Association, The Porterhouse Group and Heather House Hotel.


    As well as the Carnival Parade and the exciting Family Carnival & Funfair on Bray’s Promenade Mile, Bray Chamber has unveiled an exciting selection of new programme events including:

    A Community Celebration of the Feast of St Patrick with an Ecumenical Blessing of the Shamrock on St Patrick’s Day (Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Main Street, Bray – 1.30pm)

    An even bigger Carnival Parade celebrating the best of Bray’s community, youth, civic and arts life, as well as an infectious display of colour and musical styles and performances

    The biggest-ever-in-Ireland St Patrick’s Family Carnival & Funfair running over 5 days on Bray’s Promenade Mile from Bird’s Euroshow Funfair An even bigger Céilí Mór le ceol tradaisiúnta agus craic on the Promenade Bandstand on both St Patrick’s Night and Saturday 18th March (5pm-7.30pm),

    The all-new St Patrick’s Carnival Fireworks (8pm) on Saturday 18th March, sponsored by Bray Town Centre An exciting Children’s Art Competition to celebrate our St Patrick’s Carnival & Parade in Bray, sponsored by Premier Arts & Crafts An exciting Window Display Festival for all retailers in Bray

    The 2006 Bray St Patrick’s Carnival Parade takes place on Friday 17th March at 3pm and incorporates the popular new Parade Route from Bray Town Centre to Bray Seafront (to maximize public viewing as well as spectator and participant safety).

    Bray's St Patrick's Carnival Parade will celebrate all those many heroes, both well-known and unsung and of all ages, who contribute to community, youth, civic and arts life in Bray. Over 30 groups are confirmed as participating in the Carnival Parade, many of which will also be celebrating the celebrations for Wicklow 400. Bray Chamber is also promising an infectious display of colour and musical styles and performances to celebrate the Carnival theme.

    This year’s event also includes the biggest-ever-in-Ireland St Patrick’s Family Carnival & Funfair Mile running over 5 days on Bray’s Promenade Mile from Bird’s Euroshow Funfair – undoubtedly the No.1 family entertainment providers in Europe. Open 2pm-9pm (Weds 15 Mar) and 12pm-10pm (Thurs 16-Sun 19 Mar), this amazing first-ever-in-Ireland St Patrick’s family funfair includes some of the most exciting rides for all ages, including entertaining fun for the very young as well as thrills for the adventurous-young-at-heart. Tickets from €2.50 each; Family ticket (4) €10. To celebrate this community carnival, half price concessions will be in operation on Patron’s Day, Wednesday 15 March. Rides appearing on the St Patrick’s Family Carnival & Funfair Mile include:

    One of the most exciting new additions to this year’s celebrations will be the all-new Bray Town Centre St Patrick’s Carnival Fireworks (8pm) on Saturday 18th March, generously sponsored by Bray Town Centre. The only fireworks celebration in the Dublin region, and the largest on the East Coast, the Bray Town Centre St Patrick’s Carnival Fireworks will light up Bray’s night sky with an explosion of festive colour for all the family to enjoy.


    The new-look Carnival Céilí Mór (St Patrick’s Night Fri 17 Mar / Sat 18 Mar, 5pm-7.30pm) promises live ceol agus craic on Bray Promenade to continue our family celebrations. Céile Mór na Féile Padraig le Ceol Beo Traidisiúnta. Béidh Ceol, Craic agus Spraoi Ann Dé hAoine 17th Marta agus Dé Sathairn 18th Marta ar siúl ó 5-7.30i.n. Ag Ardán Ceol Bhúine na Trá – Fáilte Roimh Chách!


    Bray Chamber has also launched an exciting Children’s Art Competition to celebrate our St Patrick’s Carnival & Parade in Bray, sponsored by Premier Arts & Crafts. Children from schools all around Bray have entered, and the competition is being judged by Bray’s own celebrity artist Mark ‘Rasher’ Kavanagh. All entries will be on display in AIB and Bank of Ireland, as well as other town centre locations.

    Road closures operating in Bray Town Centre / Bray Seafront areas Consumption of alcohol in public areas is prohibited – Bray Town Council by-laws will be enforced
    Additional DART services will be in operation on St Patrick’s Day
    No car parking on Bray Seafront on St Patrick’s Day
    Town centre car parking limited on St Patrick’s Day. If traveling by car, please arrive early.

    DO NOT ABANDON CARS IN TOWN CENTRE / SEAFRONT BEFORE OR DURING PARADE. PARKING LAWS WILL BE ENFORCED. Relief car parking available for St Patrick’s Day Parade (Fri) / St Patrick’s Carnival Fireworks (Sat) at Presentation College, Putland Road / St Patrick’s Carnival (Sun)


    St Patricks Day - Road Closure and Traffice Restrictions Arrangements

    The following roads will be closed from 2pm - 5pm on St Patricks Day - Friday March 17th
    Strand Road, Bray from the Dart Station to the Boathouse Coffee Dock on Bray Seafront to include the junctions of: Seapoint Road and Strand Road Quinsboro Road and Strand Road Albert Ave and Strand Road Sidmonton Road and Strand Road Victoria Ave and Strand Road Convent Ave and Strand Road and Putland Road and Strand Road.

    Parking restrictions will be in place on the west side of Meath Road, on Galtrim Road and Novara Road with no parking available on Strand Road.

    The Parade Route is from St Thomas's School, Novara Ave to Bray Main Street to Quinsboro Road and to the Strand Road. Traffic Management will be in place during the passing of the Parade.

    That funfair is rubbish and a rip off and i sure wouldnt take my kids there in a million years!!!!
