    Hi,

Ive done a small site using joomla for someone. Ive put it into a folder called test on the server. However now has come the time to migrate the new version to replace the old.
Is there any way i can just point the domain to this new test folder (without it being a redirect) as oppose to going and deleting the old site and replacing it with the new which will take a while.....

    Im using cpanel.

    Tnx

You'll want to edit your http configuration file (usually httpd.conf I think).

Do a google search to find out how to do this for your webserver/OS.

If you want you could just move the joomla installation easier than repointing to the subdirectory.
There are only two files that you need to change for it to work from the root folder. Configuration.php and possibly in you template file (index.php). configuration.php is located in the root of the joomla installation and you will find index.php in "<joomla root>/templates/<whatever the name of the template you are using>/". Then move all files to the root of your domain and then all should be dandy (as long as you do not have any absolute links in the articles/pages created using joomla).

It would look better to have joomla working from the root of your domain. Let me know if you need any help with it.
