Galway's music scene gets a well needed breath of life this March 16th in the Black Box Theatre in Galway.
Five young, up-and-coming Galway bands, getting tired of the distinct lack of originality and initiative imbedded in the local scene,
have taken it upon themselves to do something about it. This concert, tentatively titled "The Big Gig", is the product of their efforts.
A Band Called Wanda, current NUIG Battle of the Bands Champions and fresh from their in-studio session in Galway Bay FM, just last week, are one of the bands involved.
They will be joined on the night by Curlisduane, Tahiti's Dream, Breakdown Rambler and The Papercups.
Each of these bands are hard-working, Galway based young talents, each known in their own right.
Breakdown Rambler may be recognised from their recent appearance on Ardán on TG4. The Papercups have supported The Frames in the last month. Curlisduane and Tahiti's Dream have their own dedicated following, Curlisduane having won the Quays Battle of the Bands and Tahiti's Dream currently competing to claim A Band Called Wanda's crown in the NUIG Battle of the Bands.
A large crowd is expected to witness this special night on the Galway music scene. A night that should hopefully see the start of something special. Something new. Something exciting.
Tickets are priced at €7 for students and €9 for general admission and are available direct from the Town Hall Theatre Box Office.
Doors open at 7.30 with the show kicking off at eight o'clock.
