so what did people think of the Springfest thing. The parade was the only thing I really saw and that wasn't really up to much at all (or near as good as previous years). Anyone go to any of the other stuff ?

the new exhib in the pery square art museam is pretty cool, popped in during springfest. yeah, was a bit disappointed in it. andy smith in the chicken was great on st. pats day itself.

The parade had gaps in it and there was nothing in Perry Square. On Saturday there were a few fire jugglers/eaters doing their level best to entertain the people while there was a half hour gap between the bands. It was pitiful, in some cases there were more people in the bands than in the crowd. The organisers should be sacked.

Bit harsh, it's the coldest March in years, people aren't going to stand around watching bands outdoors in this weather, usually it's a lot milder. The guys arranging it this year are new enough to the scene, think the main guy is only 28 or so, so he's bound to make a few mistakes. The concept is a good one, the People's Park and Pery Sq. are underused for civic events.
Thats not to say mistakes weren't made, but hopefully the organisers will learn from this.

It will be interesting to see how Riverfest works out.

The guys who organised it are in the business a good while and should have been up to the challenge but I dont blame them whatsoever. There are too many conditions on parade entry if you are commercial in anyway you cant get in volved so businesses that mite but in a class float by way of advertising cant Mr Binman were a perfect example a few years back having a dragon built out of a skip

The whole notion of bringing Paddies day to Pery Square is good as the space is there to do something with it but like all post parade events such as the previous ones in King Johns Castle they all seemed to be thought about in last few days like someone said "Gee what we gonna do after the parade is over?"
