i dont know of any DIY methods for fixing large curb marks but there are alot of places around that refurb wheels and they are not too expensive for minor damage fixing.

It would have to be filled, polished and re laquard (is that how you spell it?)

Depends how deep the scratch is.

    For a purely cosmetic scratch:-

Remove tyre. Rub it down, using progressively finer grades of wet and dry as you go. Prime, paint and apply lacquer. Powder coating gives a harder longer term finish, but is not a diy job.

If it's a deeper gouge, you'll need to use a lathe, and heavier duty tools.

You can't use filler on an alloy wheel. Alloy welding is possible, but is expensive.

i beg to differ, i used filler on my front right alloy on my old colt, sanded it down, went to woodies got metallic silver paint, primer and lacquer and it wasn't even noticable

the thing that suprised me was i went through an automated car wash and it didn't even taint it:confused:

I'll rephrase that then. Filler shouldn't be used;)

its not a DIY job you wanna do without trying it on a wheel you dont need to keep in case you do more damage then good. everything is easy in theory but ive seen guys make a bags of color coding plastic rub strips never mind refurbing an alloy.

ring around is the best advise, prices can vary big time depending on wether you can deliver and collect or not anddepending on how exactly the repair the wheel.

Halfords do a very comprehensive kit for this exact problem ! Seems pretty good !

My tyre fitted marked one of mine, it has a painted outer lip with a machine finish inner lip. I sanded it down as mentioned, painted it, sanded, laquered and sanded again !

    Looks 99% !

Other than that try www.nulukwheels.com they collect from Dublin !

If you are bothered about it then send it away, they will bead blast it then touch it all up and it will come back looking like new for about fifty quid.

I think any PRO outfit will charge a bit more than €50/wheel !

AFAIK the Halfords kit was about €25 and contained everything you are likely to need !
