Before my departure(indefinite banning, etc, welcome by some probably), I'd like to raise the question:
Is this a forum where a person can raise a valid question, and have it answered by the public, or only is it a forum where 'one' can only post when the question meets the approval only of some 'call centre worker' that needs to have a power trip to add some meaning to their life?
Is this forum not a prime example of how a government can go wrong, or how a business can go out of business?
For those who see this, I personally give this website a year and a half before the cost of hosting the site is more than the subscriptions, the extra half year is due to the momentum the site has gained. My point is anything posted here that resembles free speech is locked without reasonable judgement.
My challenge to whoever responds, if you have any dignity, is to at least spell / grammar check your response.

    Incompetent responses will be ignored!

    what a rediculous post.
Also you speak about grammar, yet ask one huge question, whilst omitting a question mark.

you also use the word only twice in the one line, which makes very little sense.

    and also your point sucks.

    And I am very liberal,
and new and impressionable, so I was your only hope.

    Is grammar a verb now?

None of the admins are call centre workers that i'm aware of anyway. Whats your job that your so high and mighty to look down on call centre workers?
Is this forum not a prime example of how a government can go wrong, or how a business can go out of business.
Not really, is self regulating by enlarge, with alot of mods that are active posters from the community so muppets like yourself are banned.
For those who see this, I personally give this website a year and a half before the cost of hosting the site is more than the subscriptions, the extra half year is due to the momentum the site has gained.
Errr firstly the sites hosting is sponsored if you paid any attention to anything by hosting 365 Ltd. As its quite unlikely the subscription would cover it... but thats regardless, the current power structure has been in place since the start (a long long time ago 98') , and boards has seen constant growth since then.
My point is anything posted here that resembles free speech is locked without reasonable judgement.
Erm, boards.ie has never been about free speach, its about people discussing topics that interest them, if you post something thats entirely outside a forum's guidelines then it will be locked and you possibly banned. If you can't follow the rules goto some other site. Its not really that hard.
My challenge to whoever responds, if you have any dignity, is to at least spell / grammar check your response.
Haha after your stupid post i really do hope you are banned, if you look back through feed back there is one of these every few weeks......
    Incompetent responses will be ignored!
Does that suggest your post should be deleted since it is entirely incompetent? Your lack of ability to look for similar threads doesn't speak too highly of your intelligence there...

Yes, insulting the people who run the site always furthers one's goals, and creates sympathy for their agenda. Lovely.

Anything that looks like crap, usually gets locked. Live with it. If you want to have your free speech, why dont you bring the topic up on your next bus journey somewhere. Lets see what responses you will get.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 232 ✭✭KrankStricher

Oh yeah, people love randomers ****ing on in buses about free-speech, why you could even blame it all on the english, that always works.
    *humour(no harm intended)

None of the admins are call centre workers that i'm aware of anyway.
Any the relevance of that is??? occupation does not matter! you missed the point TCD!
Whats your job that your so high and mighty to look down on call centre workers?
    irrelevant, see previous answer.
Not really, is self regulating by enlarge, with alot of mods that are active posters from the community so muppets like yourself are banned.
So, I don't have an opinion then, or you just don't agree

Good thing too, because it wouldn't survive commercially

Yeah, or if the mod is in a bad mood, this place is looking like joke lately

Nietzschean, are you not a typical example of an underachiever in TCD, someone from TCD posting on boards, how lowerclass, would that not be frowned upon by your peers in you beloved university.

    OK.

    1. Why do you think you'd be banned?

    2. You need to sit back, watch what's happening and learn. Starting a whole pile of random threads which ask everyone else a question but offer absolutely zero insight into the answer are a good way of getting you noticed as a noise creator. If you're going to ask a question of other people, it's generally considered polite to let others know why you ask the question, and the summation of your knowledge on the topic.
Failure to justify your question(s), particularly when they seem random (e.g. "What is a cute whore?"), get them put into a little box marked "pointless". That is, since you haven't told us the purpose of the question, then the question is pointless. Pointless threads are frowned upon in most forums, including this one, because they just add noise to what is an already busy forum. Thus, such threads are locked to reduce noise.

    3. Free speech does not apply here. You need to educate yourself on exactly what free speech is. You most certainly cannot say whatever you want here, because the owners of this website are liable for whatever you say. In saying this however, the ideaology is to allow people to discuss most topics in a civil and intelligent manner. 99.99999% of topics will be fine, but the remainder fall into the categories of illegal, legally grey, advertising, pornography and noise. All of which will be deleted or locked when posted. These topics are "moderated" to ensure that boards.ie avoids potential legal action, and also to ensure that the signal:noise ratio does not go above tolerable levels.
As forums grow, the possibility of either scenario occuring also grows, and thus moderation must continue at a much more aggressive pace.

    4. If you want to post whatever you want, I suggest you start your own site. Then you can say whatever you want.

    5. If however, you wish to have 10,000+ active users to participate with, then you can stay here, read the charters of forums, and read a few hundred threads and make a few hundred replies to get a feel for how to start an intelligent, meaningful topic.

Why do you waste your effort Seamus? Seriously. You would have spent your time better had you typed up a shopping list.

    Cornflakes.
    Milk.
    Sugar.

No one was offending anyone, read the post again, the occupation of the mod is irrelevant.

Admittedly that was a stupid thread. Valid question though, I have seen worse.

But essentially my point has been proven, by the fact that I have been banned without yet recieving a valid reason.

I for some reason feel like I am being threatened here and not allowed to make my point. I had an account, I was banned(for a reason to be yet clarified), I created a new account, is that so hard to comprehend? (Is this not what I spoke of earlier?)
(Have you heard of a little thing called DHCP?)

    Bored now.

Honestly, can we not get through a season without one of these threads from a poster who has been around for a week and is terribly offended because their moronic actions have earned them a banning/thread locking?

Ugh, I'm going to bed, I hope someone's locked this when I wake up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,628 ✭✭✭Asok

Bye bye both accounts. DHCP is irrelevant mainly as DCU pipes most of its traffic through its proxies so if we see someone with a chip on their shoulder fighting the power we will think of you fondly.

    Now for Cult. :D

ok, now my second account has been banned. As for Cult a second year student in DCU and Sparky-s a second year student in some unknown IT in Tipp you are but children in my eyes. As for boards, my point is proven. I rest my case. I have not been allowed defend myself, except through the benifit of a proxy server.
