Keep an eye on ebay, there will be lots of crazy benchers selling "old" 7800gtx 512s and X1800XTXs

I know a guy on forums.amd.com he just broke the 3Dmark 05 World record with 2 X1900XTXs and now he is selling them for cheap, to get 2 7900gtx 512s:eek:

eBay prices are pretty screwed up for these cards tho. Best price I seen was $435 for a 1900XT. Problem is, its EUR405 from Overclockers.co.uk, and that includes VAT at 17% (Im listed with Customs, so I get hit with 21% VAT on most imports). nVidia cards are way overpriced in general imo, 7800GTX 512s trying to be sold for upwards of $550 is silly when a brand new x1900XT 512MB is cheaper and faster. I do prefer nVidia cards, but there is a very real limit to my preference.

How much is the forums.amd guy selling them for anyhow?

Old 7800GTX's :) I like that term. How long are they out?

Yeah the 7900GTX's are actually cheaper as there apparantly cheaper to make than the 7800 cards. Nvidia where suppose to drop the price of the 7800 GTX's cards to around €400 but I reckon most suppliers still have there old stock bought for higher prices. Take a while for the price drop to filter through. ATI dropped the price of there high end cards to counter Nvidias price drop. So basically the top tier cards from both companies should be very competitive with each other.

The 7900 series are made on a 90nm fabrication process instead of the old 110nm process, this means Nvidia get alot more GPUs from the same piece of silicon so they can sell them cheaper.

Both Nvidia's and ATi's current high end offerings are pretty much equal, so they have to compete on price, which is good news for us.

I would rather a high end graphics card for €300, instead of the best graphics card for €600;)

Better not try to sell it on eBay then! :p

Also, for anyone interested, Im gonna be selling 2x 6800GT PCI-E, about EUR220 each in the next week or so. Currently running in SLI quite happily.

    Heh, I dont do charity!

I forgot to mention, these are extra special genuine nVidia reference boards, direct from nVidia show demos! Which is kinda cool.

Thats a good price, but its also only a 256MB version, which I have already. This thread is about the faster (Core/Memory) 512MB version.
