Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

RVN is on the bench once again. Park and Brown out, Vidic and Richardson replacing them.

1-0 Man Utd, Saha. Selection justified.

Kinda, in fairness Saha didn't mean to head it there, just look at where his eyes initally go.
But thank god, its about time he scored on the head, its been a while.

1428: Ruud van Nistelrooy was whisked to the Hawthorns direct from the airport this morning, only to be told he was again on the Manchester United bench for the Premiership encounter with West Brom. Van Nistelrooy had been back in Holland following the death of his wife's grandfather, so his failure to oust Louis Saha from Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up was understandable. With Park Ji-Sung having returned to Korea also after a family bereavement, Kieran Richardson was recalled to play on the ground he left as a hero last May after helping Albion avoid relegation.

    Blackburn 2-1 Boro (Pedersen)

Adebayor doubles Arsenal's lead at home to Charlton. 2-0 to the Gunners.

LuaLua clears off the line to preserve Portsmouth's 2-0 lead at West Ham.

    For criticising Ronaldo? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

VDS is playing the hero, with two great saves in the space of 2 minutes to deny West Brom.
United need to get another before the break

    ---

I've no problem with criticising Ronaldo, he hasn't been playing great so far.
It was the comment about the free kick.

'It was 30 yards out, in that case you've got to chip it into the box!'
Cough, anyone seen Ronaldos free kicks lately?
    Jesus christ, annoying as hell.

THen their insightful comments, yeh if United just got some more shots on target, then we'd probably score more. Quinnesqkue!

Also they seem to be out to get VIdic, even though he has had a solid game, no idea why.

I know what you mean, though this one was pretty woeful. As were both his "attempts" from play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Yeh they were woeful, which is fine, but it just annoys me, just jumping onto any common media thread.

    There was another great comment.
'Ronaldo went down after he had been fouled. It'd be great to see him just get on with it more'
Admitting he had been fouled, then giving out to him for getting fouled.

Diomansy Kamara not winning himself any fans there. Stick to missing open goals you little so and so.

Amazing scoreline at Upton Park where it's West Ham 0 Portsmouth 3 thanks to a scorcher from Pedro Mendes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,432 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

I have being getting annoyed with a lot of the commentators on various channels lately, not too many of them know what they are talking about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    THis guy on Setanta.

'The worst part of Uniteds team is their defense'

To him, it appears that Rio and Vidic are absolutely woeful, so woeful that they are worse than Uniteds midfield of a left winger and a left back.
Seriously, is it so hard to at least get some sensible people on?

    ----

    Lads good news:

'United of course are guarenteed a UEFA cup spot with their win the league cup. Now the key is the secure a champions league spot.
United currently lie 2nd to Chelsea, with Liverpool behind them, but with 2 points and a game in hand'

Robbie Savage sent off in club football for the first time in his career I think???

Oh, and Hleb makes it 3-0 and McCulloch finally broke the deadlock for Wigan -v- Man City.

1-0 Bolton, Kevin Davies. Stelios with the assist, what a legend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,432 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

    1616: RED CARD
Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage will, for once, gain some sympathy as he receives a second yellow card in as many minutes. The referee decides Savage has deliberately handled - despite the ball being hit straight at him from just yards away. It is Savage's first red card in the Premiership.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

United need to mix it up.
Take off Rooney, put on Ruud
Take off Richardson, put on Fletcher, push GIggs out to the left wing.

Maybe push Evra on to give a bit more full back threat, or else bring Park on for Giggs.

    ---

Ronaldo just made a great pass to Saha, who controlled superbly, and slotted it home.
Rooney still needs to come off though, we should be winning this much more comfortably.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

    2-0, Saha.

Park isn't on the bench, he's back home for a funeral afaik.

    Subs: T Howard, P Evra, R van Nistelrooy, D Fletcher, G Rossi

A fantastic strike by Bellamy puts 10-man Blackburn back in front against Middlesbrough. 3-2 now to the hosts.

His second cracker of the day I understand.

    WBA 1-2 United, The Duke.

Portsmouth deliver the knockout blow at Upton Park as Todorov makes it 4-1 to Portsmouth.

'He clipped his heels, but i'm fairly sure it was unintentional.
Contentous moment if United score form this.'

Last time I checked, an unintentional foul was still a foul?

Well obviously if its a foul, its a foul. Whether it was a foul or not is debatable though.

    Kevin Nolan you daisy!

I have asked PaddyPowers for odds on Pompey to stay up :)

Mido is carrying a slight injury. To his ankle I think. That's why he's only on the bench.

Great win for Rovers. Will be interesting to see Savage's sending off. Apparently it was very harsh. What are the chances of getting it overturned? My mate reckons there's a rule that you can't contest two yellows, just a straight red.

    hes right.

THe ref might be able to rescind a yellow, but he very very rarely does this. So it will be very unlikely to be over-turned.
