My only wish for the ending of the season is that I hope Leeds or Watford overtake Sheffield United. We made them look completely ordinary and for Colin to come around and stick his 2 fingers up at the Barclay and then to the manager and then be interviewed and say "I don't think I've ever been to Norwich and battered them that much in my entire career............ How we lost that game is beyond me. My boys answered their critics out there" is an utter disgrace. It shows you that he's losing the plot and the nerves are starting to hit the team.

Well Colin, stick it in your pipe and smoke it, we were the better team on the day and I hope you bottle it big time.

i have no idea what your on about but Sheff Utd are destined yet again to bottle it this season. Watford and Leeds both look good for the 2nd position but i wouldn't rule out Palace either. Com'on Palace! Disappointing 2-2 draw today with Ipswich especially when you consider Leeds drawing and Norwich’s display.

I would tip Norwich to get into 6th by the end of the season actually, they are hitting some good form. Earnshaw is doing the business.

Here is a look at the top 10 at the moment:

    2_Sheff Utd_______39_____75
    3_Leeds__________38_____71
    4_Watford________38_____69

Tueday night: Leeds Vs Palace is a massive 6 pointer :)

I agree, Tuesday is a massive game and one Leeds have to win to keep the pressure on the Blades. There'll only be a point in it if we win, and even if Leeds weren't in the running I really can't stand Warnock and always take pleasure in seeing them fail. As for Norwich, I'd like to see them make the playoffs, but I think they may have a little too much to do unless both Wolves and Preston make a mess of things.

HOw is Liam MIller doing for Leeds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,198 ✭✭✭kensutz

The main reason why I posted it is because of Warnock's reaction after the game to both the management and fans. Plus we don't really like Sheffield United anyway and hopefully they will fall apart. We still have Preston, Wolves and Cardiff to play who are above us and if we play like we have been in the past few weeks (except at Selhurst) then I think we have a good chance of sneaking into the playoffs.

It appears to be a widely held view. Among Leeds fans it's compulsory.

HOw is Liam MIller doing for Leeds?

Very well, but he doesn't want to stay on at the club after this season, even though Blackwell has indicated that he'd like to sign him permanently. He wants to go back to United and fight for a place there, although that just means he'll be back in the reserves. Ingrate!

Sign permanently for Leeds = pay cut.

I don't know what he is on at United but it would probably be close to £30,000 a week.

Yeah, but which is better, getting regular first team football in a team that will hopefully be in the Premiership next season, or playing for Man U reserves in front of a couple of hundred people at Stockport, or wherever they're playing their reserve games now? He made a mistake leaving Celtic too soon, he should have waited until he was more established before moving to a club like United as he was never likely to waltz into the first team. Sure, there's more glamour at Old Trafford than there is at Leeds (I think there's probably more glamour at Doncaster these days, but that's a different story), but even regular first team football in the Championship will get you noticed quicker than reserve team football. Sometimes you just gotta accept that maybe you're not quite as good as you might think you are.

i don't think its about the money. He has a lot to prove at Utd, the pressure on him most of being massive since he was touted as Roy's replacement both at Utd and at International level. altough for 30,000 a week i know what i'd be doing (for one more season at least) :)

He is on 33k a week, this is cause he was a free transfer.

If he plays as well as I believe he can, I think he has huge potential to be a star at United, but he has to preform when he gets his chances, Fergie only gives a couple

Colins a muppet. Always will be. Thinks he can manipulate by talking rubbish and whining about 'Irish' not shaking his hand after the game.

I hear there was trouble on the Blunts coach back from Norwich, all i heard was that the wheels were falling off!!

Gonna start a championship thread myself actually. I also have a severe hatred for sheff united, i hope they finish 3rd and lose in the playoff final. The final were they lost to wolves 3-0 was brilliant.

Watford have are playing southampton tomorrow on sky sports, should win that. HOpe they do, will make it very interesting.

I'd like to see watford go up, they done amazingly this season. I think Palace will get the 5th spot. Now preston have lost david nugent for the rest of the season, they will struggle badly and wont make it.

Thats leaves wolves, cardiff and norwich have an outside chance. Wolves probaly have the easier run in.

Norwich run in isnt to bad, barring thel ast 2 games which are against cardiff and wolves.

Lads first off im confused, who is this Colin you lot are talking about?

As for Sheffield Utd and Neil Warnock, I dislike both of them with a huge passion. They have failed to win any of their last 8 league games iirc and at one point in the season Leeds were a massive 17 points behind them. We have just plucked away at them though picking up points in some very tricky matches and now the gap is only 4 points with Leeds playing their game in hand against Crystal Palace on Tuesday. Leeds beat Palace in Selhurst park only 2 weeks ago so im pretty confident we can do the same in Elland Road where we have won 6 and drawn 1 of out last 7 games. For me if Leeds win this game we will get automatic promotion.

As for the playoffs I think both Watford and Palace will be in there with hopefully Sheffield Utd joining them. The 6th spot is wide open but Wolves or Preston will take it I feel with Preston being slight favourites. Nugent is a loss to them but not as big a one as some people feel.

Leeds have been playing well of late and teams are finding it very difficult to beat us. With Kilgallon back in the side at centre back they are going to find it even more difficult and I really think we can finish 2nd. Remember Leeds play Sheffield Utd in Bramall Lane in the third last game of the season and I think all my come down to that game. One thing is for sure that if sheffield UTd dont pick up their form they will definitely not finsih in the top two. That will suit me just fine :D

Was wondering who the hell Colin is but just didn't bother reading the rest. Hate Shef Utd, end of story! dont care if they go up or not as long as the Mighty Owls stay in the Championship. Starting to get some form going again so things are looking up.

Neil Warnock has an anagram of Colin W@nker. Therefore opposition supporters call him Colin

The abuse he got from us on Saturday was brilliant. The look on his face when the first goal went in was priceless.

I dont think sheff utd will go up automatically and tbh, i hope they dont! i have never been a fan of warnock at all.
I think Watford are the dark horses for promotion though. A lot of the attention seems to be going on leeds and Sheff utd while watford have been quietly going about their business in a professional manner. Adi Boothroyd has done a great job for them and i can see them sneaking into second place.

Adi Boothroyd is a great man manager. He was brilliant when at Norwich and left under suspicious circumstances with rumours that Worthington thought he might be replaced by the academy manager. I'm delighted that he's done so well with a squad who was tipped at the start for a relegation dogfight.

i don't think leeds will win, it should have been a draw at Shelhurst, palace were very unlucky. A draw tonight or Palace win will see us competiting for 2nd come the last day of the season......when we play Sheff Utd :) (3 easy points)

Good game so far, end to end stuff. Dougas had a great chance but put his header wide and Johnson had a good chance for Palace that was saved by Sullivan. Why the hell is this not on tv?!! Its only a hugely important match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭Rollo Tamasi

the reason its not on tv is because this was a postoned match from a while back so it wasn't on the original tv schedule....and if it was on tv you'd be crying :)
    Leeds 0 - 1 Palace
Obi Jobi Kinobe Mcanuff with the goal :)

nice, your new golden boy Beckford is on the pitch. He scored something like 6million goals in 3 games in the conference....can he be your saviour?

Leeds with 3 strikers on the pitch
Palace bring on Soares for Morrison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

No teams seem to be able to take charge and run away with the second automatic spot! Sheffield United have been so unconvincing, but Leeds haven't really made the most of it.
    Still the same Kingp?

Leeds pushing on but not really getting any chances. Palace are keeping the ball and running it into the corner. Beckford has looked lively but hasnt had a chance yet. Leeds just brought on Bakke for one last push.

Cant see them scoring tbh, Palace defence doing well and Kiraly has had a good game.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Its over. Leeds 0-1 Palace. Im sick because that was our game in hand and now its gonna be tough to catch Sheffield Utd again. We had alot of the ball and better territory but if im honest Palace created the better chances. Bad night but well done to Palace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭Rollo Tamasi

    Result! :)
that puts Palace 4 points behind Leeds
    5 behind Watford
8 behind 2nd placed Sheff Utd.

With Sheff Utd on a decline its turned into a 3 horse race for 2nd place. I would fancy Watford to get it tbh. A Leeds Vs Palace playoff final?....that would be tasty!

I just wanna see Palace back in the big time - Dowie's done such a terrific job there, and I even love the chairman too, how many other clubs can ya say that about!?:D

Don't care who Palace get in the playoffs, just as long as they win it... Which they surely must be favourites to do; after all, the Eagles are veterans of em at this stage...

yup, a penalty shoot is lurking
