Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mods I know this should prob be in the Travel forum but just feel the guys here might be better suited. Feel free to move however.

Got two tickets to CL Final in May. Flights are paid for all thats left is the accommodation.

Has anyone been to Stade de France? Wheres a good/cheap hotel/area to stay that is close to the stadium but also close to the city center.

    Any help appreciated.

Tip: Theres no such thing as a shuttle bus every 10 minutes.

Im sure someone here had a decent experience there and didnt have the imaginary bus to wait for :o

I was in Paris/Stade de France for the Ireland Vs France match back in Sept or Oct 2004. I reckon you are better off looking for a hotel in an area such as St.Germain, which could work out cheap if you do some investigation now before the rush. It may take about 30 mins or so to get to the stadium (cannot remember exactly) but at least you will be staying in a nice area with lots of stuff to do..e.g. restaurants, pubs, sites, etc.

The Stadium is a good bit outside the city near the airport. I would also advise staying in the city and travelling out for the game. The journey out there for the Irish match was one of the best parts of the trip.

I'll try and look up the hostel we stayed in, it was grand, and only about €22 a night if I remember correctly.

Thanks guys, never been to Paris before. Were flying into Beauvais(spelling?) how far is that from the city? How much it cost to get into the city?

If were staying in the city how hard will it be to get out to the stadium?

Beauvais is about an hour from Paris I think, someone may be able to confirm that though.

It's easy to get out to the stadium from the city, just get a train. Getting to the match should be the least of your worries.

Not sure where Beauvais is. Getting from city to stadium will be easy.

Beauvais is about an hour outside the city. IIRC the Stade de France is on the left hand side as you drive into Paris

For the CL Final, Uefa usually schedule shuttle buses from the centre of the city running every 5 or so minutes out to the stadium

There's a tenner bus trip into the city from beauvais (takes about an hour). http://www.octopustravel.com are very good for hotels and the like, about a year ago I stayed in a 4* Holiday Inn (full hot breakfast) at a very good price and 30 seconds from the metro.

Paris is very good for getting around if you use the metro/trains, i'm sure the stade de france will be well serviced in this way, just make sure you get onto the train going in the right direction :)
