My name is Chris Bond I am running for Arts Programme officer. I am a member of the Labour party however i am proud to say that i am a firm believer in not letting party affiliation influence any of my activity in the students union and i never have. I hope to count on your support i will be posting a link to my manifesto as soon as possible if the mods allow it. Thank you very much.

Right so, to answer a previous question regarding political affiliations.

I am <snip>. I am running for Oifigeach na Gaeilge. I am a member of UCD Labour Youth.

I'll post up a manifesto when I put it together, if that is allowed on these boards (can a moderator clarify this for me?). If that's not permitted, sure there'll still be plenty of manifestoes available during the run-up to the elections.

Any other questions about my track record, I'll gladly answer them.

    Lefty!!!

(Might I point out I'm joking)

Sorry guys, no manifesto from any candidate is to be posted up.

Discussion on the issues is encouraged but canvassing is not allowed.

    :)

    I like this.
I normally vote for the right cause generally they just do things down the centre and try to please everyone, and they don't let politics get in the way. You might be the first UCD pinko to get my vote yet:)

You have been on seriously thin ice on this thread firespinner. You're border-line trolling. We get it, you don't like "lefties".

Anymore comments like those above, including the word "pinko" and you can enjoy a weeks ban.

What constitutes a "pinko"? I am getting fed up with all this 1950's USA anti-Red type language being bandied about on this thread and indeed this forum.

Can people not be mature enough to adhere to non-insulting terms when describing, (in a serious debate; I know when a bit of banter is good-natured), others political affiliations?

Sorry, point taken. I've been arguing with this guy on boards who does nothing but low-blows and sanctimonious trolling - Its rubbing off on me. In future I will avoid referring to UCD boards members as pinkos or krustys.

    Definition of Pinko:

a person with mildly leftist political views
    wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

I would consider some of the real "lefties" in the SU to be a lot more red than pink. In particular those who'd consider themselves Socialists certainly aren't pinkos.

Pinko isn't really a derogatory term. I'd apply it to the people with sensible leftist fews (If that's not an oxymoron ;) ). Our President-Elect and Deputy President come to mind. And I have great time for both of them.

Actually, I believe Dave wanted to take over the entire city of Dublin for himself, but Jane wouldn't give up control of Clontarf. Dan has splintered and is trying to amass the armies of Leinster to alliege and subsume Dublin, and a large real-life Union Corridor game of Risk beckons.

OOh, I'll make the popcorn, someone else bring the malteasers and skittles. This looks like a good one!

Did nobody tell them that, in purely hereditary terms, I am the reigning King of Leinster?

Honestly, my subjects are just pig-ignorant these days...

Yep the fact that bertie ahern considers himself to be a socialist means he definatley not a pinko.

How about we all just refrain from using the term pinko?

Thats not really a question by the way... ;)

I stubbed my 'toe' and its all swollen and kind of pinko looking. Should I go to the doctor? It stings when I ....eh....'walk'
