The following is the text of a Bebo mail message currently being circulated:

Hi there!

Due to the increasing amount of people registering for an account on Bebo,
we are beginnning to expand our website to cope with the demand.
as a result we will need to verify your account details.
You only have 14 days before your account will be terminated,
so please verify your account as soon as possible.

Please forward this email onto as many people as possible thank you.

Don't, I repeat don't, fall for it - the page being pointed to isn't affiliated to Bebo at all, and seems to be (to all intents) a third party creating a dud page in order to collect your username and password.

I'm reporting this to Bebo services too but I thought it was better if people were aware that this is a scam, before they fall for it themselves and jeopardise whatever sensitive stuff or precious memories are contained in their accounts.

To those not using Bebo... congrats on not having already failed your exams.

Nice one,

On a side note, i cant understand why people keep forwarding those stupid emails. Bebo say everywhere (well, a lotta places) on their site that when they contact people it WON'T be through their bebo mail account.

I swear, a third of the mail you get on that thing is along the lines of 'Fw:Fw:Fw:Bebo shutting down!Read quick!'

Oh, we all do.

The worst thing about having 150-odd friends (long story - I joined to make my 'How Well Do You Know Gav?' quiz and accidentally sent it to all 117 people on my Hotmail contacts...) is that you get the same forwards about thirty times a day... Still though, can't complain in having 150 friends, most of whom I actually know anyway.

What would happen if someone did enter their details in there? I imagine pretty much everyone is going to fall for it, I mean, most people have difficulty with the "This is Andy Director of Bebo Tim Buiski..." one.
