    It's part of some policies - for example, I can claim for up to 2 accidents, with the combined settlements not exceeding €5000 and keep my NCB with my current company. The NCB is gone if you move companies I think.

    I understand protecting your no claims bonus, that's easy, but the original poster said they had 0 years NCB....

    I'm wondering how you can protect something you don't have to start with??

    Oops, sorry. I guess s/he means that the new policy includes protected NCB from this point on.
