How do you connect your xbox to your projector?

I went to try and connect my xbox to my projector and everything is find picture wise, but how to I connect my sound to it.

My projector does not have a scart input and is as follows:

Component Video: Yes
Video: Yes
Digital Input: M1-DA(P&D)
Personal Computers: Yes

It only has 1 component (yellow) and as the cable from the xbox has 3 - where do I put the other 2 to get the sound?

But now....... how to connect my surround sound speakers which I use through the same component?

Is this a stupid question, but can I connect the headphone jack on the projector to the headphone jack on the dvd/surround sound system?

component video does not carry a sound signal. Component is usually the best way to use a projector and its made up of three different connectors marked Y/Pb/Pr.

I connect my PS2 to my DVD/surround system using an optical cable. This carries sound only. Does the Xbox have an optical out connector?

Yes I believe it does.

So my best option is to connect my xbox to the dvd surround sound and then the dvd/surround sound to the projector - yeah?

Your messing up component(ONLY carries video)and composite(carries video, left audio and right audio)

The connection on the back of your projector is a composite(which is the yellow jack of the 3)

Your projector probably doesnt have much in terms of sound output(none do)so thats why theres no inputs, so, connect your xbox via optical or else get a phono extender and unfortunately run the cable back along the way it came back to the tv.
