Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1. What system requirment do I need to install suse? If someone could provide a link.
    2. Ignorance here. But would I have to remove DOS from my PC and replace it with UNIX? Oh the pure ignorance of that question. Sorry.
    3. Would I have to reinstall all programs after I have installed a Linux based OS? and back up all files before installing?

It's unlikely DOS is even on your computer, however you do risk overwriting Windows during the install.

You can't really install most Windows programs under Linux, apart from things like Firefox and OpenOffice. You'll need to research alternatives.
and back up all files before installing?
If you'll have stuff you want retained, certainly.

You shouldnt end up overwriting your windows if you keep an eye on what you're doing during the install.
As for running Windows programs on linux - there usually isnt a need to. There are alternatives for pretty much everything that work just as good if not better. And for those programs that there arent alternatives for, there is a program called wine that allows you to run windows programs on linux. That's how I use Google Earth on linux.

Ok! Prob should have gone to that meeting. Wasn't up in dublin during the weekend. Prob would have saved me alot of time.

I have run into problems with the installation. I get to the installation screen where it tells me that I will need to partition my disk as I don't have enough space for the program to run.

What would be the best way to partition my disk? The book which I bought  is of no help until YaST is starting the instalation process.

    I think I need a new PC.

How big is your disk? How much space is windows taking up? Is windosw on a FAT filesystem or on NTFS? I think you can find that last one out somewhere in the control panel
