Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Backing up Windows/Office Activation Information

FIRST: This only works on the computer to which Windows (or Office) was first activated on. This is not a way to avoid the activation process on illegal copies of Windows. This is simply a way to avoid having to reactivate Windows on the same computer that it was installed on by backing up the status files that windows checks upon boot. If you try this on a different PC, it will fail.

For Windows: There are two files that you need to backup:
    Go to C:\Windows\System32
    Backup the files: wpa.dbl & wpa.bak

    For Office (XP and higher):
    Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA
    Backup the two files: data.bak & data.dbl or opa11.bak & opa11.dat

This is a very common problem. If you are unable to activate a microsoft problem due to a genuine second or later activation then you can wait on the activation line after activation failure and speak with a technician. I have had this issue before and was given an alternative code there and then on the line. Of course if the attempted activation is not genuine, this option will not be available to you.

Regarding backing up activation codes, they are no different to any other raw data and can be backed up using any backup software. I use backupanytime.com but an offline versionmight do you.
