    (The clouds in this are apparently being volumetrically ray-traced on Cell before being mixed in with the graphics rendered on the GPU! Cell and RSX can both work on graphics if the developer wants :))

    any idea where/when we can download the conference video? i've only ever seen will wrights keynotes from gdc floating around before, but this is something i'm dying to see

    There's no video as far as I know. Sony was really strict about cameras at the conference, in fact we were lucky to get these photos at all by the sounds of things. They had people watching the audience, asking them to take their cameras down when people tried to take photos etc. This wasn't really a consumer show, it was aimed at developers, so..

    true enough but there are now video's of motorstorm and warhawk, as shown at the keynote. and as i said, they released the videos from will wright's previous keynotes at gdc.

    No videos at all, I'm afraid.

    Just looking at the Warhawk shots, though, it looks better than it did at E3. They certainly didn't have nearly as nice a sky or cloud rendering in the E3 trailer. It's not obvious in these shots, but according to impressions, hundreds of fighters were indeed present. The only think you might consider to be 'missing' from this demo is the terrain that featured in the E3 demo - but TBH, a procedurally generated and animated ocean is a lot more technically complex to pull off than terrain (though I'm sure the latter will be in the game). I mean, not to harp on about the clouds, but they're using rendering techniques for them that's normally reserved for prerendered stuff - they're fully volumetric, with full lighting and shadowing, which technically is really really impressive.

    As for Motorstorm, impressions on this are mixed. Basically it apparently didn't look as good at GDC as the CG trailer from E3 (so some gave them hell over this), but it still looked really impressive. The physics and dynamics from the trailer are apparently there - you can splatter mud on opponents, cut grooves into wet mud with your tires to create new, better racing lines etc. So that is encouraging, but some of the particle effects and stuff apparently need a bit of work. It's still early enough days, though - the game as at least another 7 or 8 months of development time, with final hardware still to come.

    bah, not enough in game stuff, Resistance: Fall of Man looks good, but its not a huge leap from anything available now. The ratchet and clank looks amazing, but untill i see any ingame footage this is just a fancy video rendered. The warhammer shots are ok, little bit sparse for my liking tho.

    100% fully playable demo's will be at e3, which is only a month or two away now
