Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My mini install fest

I had to miss the meeting in UCD today due to work issues. After I finished work I installed both Fedora Core 5 and Ubuntu 5.10.

First I installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my Dell Latitude D600. The install was text based and worked fine. Once the logged in the install worked perfectly. My display was 1024x768 and my wireless was working fine. I used apt-get to install a few packages I use on my desktop in work (currently RHEL4) without issue and was immediatly able to surf the web.

Next came the FC5 install. This install was much prettier and had a lot more options but then again FC5 came on five CD's while Ubuntu came on one. However once the install was done and I was logged in I found that my desktop could only give me 800x600 and my wireless was not working. I spent a little while fiddling with the OS before I decided to go back to Ubuntu.

I am now back on Ubuntu and using it now to type this. I am going to give it a go on my notebook for a while to see how it goes. If I like it I might even pop it on my desktop in work as that needs a reinstall (RPM broken due to kernal update) soon anyway.

I will let you know what I decide.
