Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey everyone! this is my first post on a linux forum ever because, well, i'm only new tho all this linux business and frankly i think i've thrown myself in at the deep end

problem number one for my new SuSE 10.0 Laptop (purchased thanks to Boards.ie :D ) is getting my internet set up on it. i have a Xircom network card installed in it (which i know is working on my lan so thats not the problem) but my broadband is set up in a kinda strange way.... i have a lan in the house set up through a swich ie. every computer is plugged into the switch and the broadband is also connected through the switch. with the other computers in the house we need to dial up to the Dsl connection with eircom but i can't get my SuSE to dial up... anyone got any suggestions for me?

look for rp-pppoe in Software Packages.
(It stands for Roaring Penguin - ppp over ethernet.)
Type 'you' in a console to get to the software menu
if you can't find it on the menu.

That should be all you need.
Post back if you've any hassle setting it up.

    Good luck,
    NiallB

well i found my problem, i had a pppoe client all along but i just didn't know how to "initialise" my connection... i was using Yast to set up the connection and i had it set that i had to make the connection myself but now that i have it changed to connect at boot time its working fine...
i know this will be a stupid question but forgive me, i'm a noob! where exactly are your devices in a linux system, ie. all i needed to do was to initalise dsl0 (which was set up fine) but i didn't know how... can anyone shine some light on the situation for me :o
