F*cking hate this "commerce breed" bullsh1t. I'm in 2nd Comm Intl, and I'm from Meath. I'm not orange, and whatever blondness is in my hair is natural. And I'm offended by the thought that my kids are going to be blonde, orange and illiterate. Could we once and for all just give up with the Comm bashing? If you want to Oompa Loompa bash then go ahead but stop badmouthing about 15% of the Student Body based on a stereotype that is, in fact, a minority.

edit: I realise that it wasn't probably the direct intention to make such generalisations but sometimes it's a real pet peeve. I don't want to get into a discussion about it, just... enough.

    </rant>

Perhaps my post was not read as intended. The idea of "Commerce breed" in inverted commas was to point out that it is a ridiculous idea. Further, it was a dig at the OP of the quote I posted. I have no problem with Commerce students (well... as a general group anyway.) I do have a problem with people who look down on other faculties within UCD because of the stereotypes attributed to them. I also have a problem with people who sell their identities to San Tropez and Egyptian Gold, Sun In and peroxide, Abercrombie and Dubes in order to make themselves something they're not. If it's who you are, then fine. If it's not, then why fabricate an identity to hide behind? Surely the "new you" will be a cheap imitation of the real you. This is regardless of faculty, creed, breed or station. Mk? *sends apology hug*

p_larkin99: If you happen to have photos of that explosion... :D

Incidentally, this is what the explosion looks like...

Yeah sumthin like that, but with more tears!

He really does feel passionate about the subject of commerce students and the labels they get... I PREDICT A RIOT....

Remember the little kid in the Animaniacs who'd explode when she was p1ssed off? That's me, in 19 year old male form.

That's why it's his house. At least he can get insured for it, so when I explode the insurers will build another house for him to live in, and me to detonate.

I bought a large packet of Crispy M&Ms for the library. They were €2.55.

Now they're all gone, and I've yet to learn anything.

should have bought the 3 for €5 deal - so many white maltesers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,270 ✭✭✭singingstranger

I know. As soon as I saw they were €2.55 each I wanted to.

Then I remembered: three big bags of M&Ms + study = bad idea. And I feel bad splurging a fiver on sweets.

I've got a cold. So many weeks of college where I could have had one, and it has to come during the 3 weeks off. Right now, I'm quite thoroughly miserable-looking.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,755 ✭✭✭elmyra

ok the flipside to all the happy stuff.......

    1) Brother playing intercounty for months, I find out today. I wish I could spend more time at home!

    2) car tax due and stupid nct and extra money for insurance for moving up to 1.2---> me broke.

    3) There hasn't been any new Star Trek in ages. I miss it. I've started watching normal average tv.

I thought Star Trek had been ended. Permanently.

I just discovered that one of my favorite authors is dying.
I don't really mind ordinary people dying but I hate it when exceptional people die (authors, poets, scientists etc). It was bad enough with Douglas Adams but this makes me sad. He may never even finish his Wheel of Time series and i've read ten of the books.

(PS I do not just read this type of book, but I like a good storey)
