Saw one of these for the first time at the weekend. Looks nice. Anyone know when the hybrid is going on sale here. At the moment its only the 1.8. Was thinking that in a couple of years that would be a good car to import from the UK as it would only qualify for 50% VRT.

Don't think they sell the Civic saloon in the UK. At least they haven't done so with the last couple of models. Very little demand over there for a saloon that size, mostly all hatchbacks.

The last Civic saloon was also available in hybrid form but was never offered on the Irish market. Not sure they will sell the new one here either, probably too expensive. The 1.8 costs almost €27k so expect the hybrid to cost at least €30k which is ridiculous. A 1.4 saloon Civic is due here later in the year costing around €24k.

They are introducing the Honda Civic IMA Hybrid later this year into the UK. There are no plans to release to IMA in Ireland.

If anyone else is keen on this hybrid technology here is a comparison between the civic hybrid and the prius.

If the 1.8 is 27,000, the hybrid (1.4) may not be the same price.

The Prius costs around €30k and it has a 1.5 litre petrol engine with electric motor. I would expect the Civic to cost the same if not more assuming it ever went on sale here.

The civic is definately going to be cheaper than the prius. Read that in a few places.

Yep 50% clawback on VRT on hybrids. Thats what the lexus hybrid jeep is close in price to its petrol equivalent. (minus a half a litre or something)
