    Hi all,

I'm going to have to sell my pride and joy SAAB as need to get van for new career.:( The thing is the the car is on UK plates as I brought it over when I moved here. I presume I can sell the car here and just advise DVLA (UK car registration company) that I've sold the car in the usual way.

Any one have any thoughts on this, or advice.

    Thanks,

    Pip

You will be fine, just ensure that you pass on the v5 document to the new owner. What sort of saab is it?

Officially, I think the seller is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is Irish registered before selling. Maybe you should ring your local VRO to find out.

Yes, and then you will be liable for the vrt. Don't bother. As long as the new owner is able to bring the car to VRO and has all appropriate docs, it will be fine.

And don't you then have to hold on to the car for a while before you can sell it on?

Pip, you should check out the VRT payable on the car as well to factor it into the cost:

As you have moved over here assuming on a permanent basis, you can VRT the car for free. So long as you owned the car for more than 6 months in the UK.

Do this as the person you are selling the car to will have to pay the VRT, while you dont because you have moved here. You'll find that if you do this that the car will sell quicker.

Selling a car on UK Plates, give the v5 to the new owner, they bring this and the car to the VRT office to register it. The VRT offically stamps the v5 and issues the new owner with an Irish Car Reg Cert.

If you are selling the car then don't change the plates as you aren't allowed to sell the car on for 12months after you have changed them.

How much do you want for it?

I haven't figured on a final cost as yet, but going to be in and around 3500K. Depending on what I do plates wise.
But for cash offers, or Trades for van then would be happy to talk further.

Thanks for all the info guys..
