BT Tech. Support aren't the best and everytime we manage to speak to them they just assume we are doing something wrong which is very frustrating cos I know we are doing everything right!
And they told us yesterday that they didn't send engineers out anyway... Great isn't it?

Thats a load of **** , how can they not send engineers out? is it to do that eircom still own the lines or what?

Ask to speak with a product specialist... They should know what they are talking about!
Good advice! Will do that next time I ring them up! ;)

Could be because of Eircom... Or maybe they just couldn't be @rsed... I don't know... Either way it's pretty frustrating!

Exact same thing happened to me.

Same symptoms, they sent me a different modem (different model)

And it worked first time I plugged it in.

Its a common problem according to the guy I spoke to..

Yep, well, in this case I don't think it's the modem... They've already received 2 of them and the DSL light is still flashing like crazy.

Can somebody tell me which wires (position and colour) the broadband signal comes through? I think I may have found the issue here people... :o

Comes in on the same pair as the voice. There should be only one pair (incomming) connected inside the box.

The main phone socket seems to be all over the shop (really old and wires sticking out) and that has to be what's causing the problem... They know an €ircon engineer I believe so they will contact him tomorrow to see if he can have a look.

    To be continued...

Would like to thank you all again for your help! Really appreciated! :D

    hi

I was the one that was having the prob that Steffano2002 posted about :)
it is still on going
we have had our wires checked and everything is fine nothing wrong with the wiring in the house

I started again with the whole procedure and seeing did it work. But no , still having the same prob Failing everything and DSL light flashing

I rang Tech Support and they said that they cant really do anything else unless we dwongrade it to 1mkb which is pointless in my opinion as is not what we asked for

Should just have stuck with the dial up Internet
