Can an amp such as marshall mg 100dgfx (which has a headphone and a cd input jack) be connected straight to the computer and recorded that way. What software would I need to do this and any other details. Thanks.

If there's no 'record' output of any type on the amp, use the headphone output. Do NOT use any sort of speaker output, you'll risk blowing up your soundcard/computer/local power station.

As for software, you'll need to pick up something like Cubase or Guitar Tracks. There are also freebies available, like CoolEdit.
