vw passat tdi question

    hi guys
    im interested in buying a passat that has a red 'i' only
    it was registered in september 2005
    does this make it a 130bhp or a 100bhp

    hard to call, if it's 6 speed it'll be 130bhp, don't rely on the badge, look at the Reg cert. many people have been conned by false badges

    Yeah don't rely on the badge, but it's probably a 110bhp. The 130 is usually TDI

    The badging seems entirely random and has no basis in logic.

    It isnt a 110 anyway, since that engine was gone by 2005.

    Is it the old or the new model Passat you are looking at? The new shape came out in June 2005 but there are plenty of 2005 old model around too.

    The old Passat diesel was available in 100bhp and 130bhp. Whatever about the badges on them, the 130bhp version had a 6 speed manual gearbox whereas the 100bhp version had a 5 speed.

    The new Passat is available in 1.9 TDi 105bhp and 2.0TDi 140bhp or 170bhp. None of these had any red letters.
