    I have been thinking of using Google Add code on my personal web site.

    Does anyone alse use these Ads by Google ads on their websites? Is it easy to make money , would you reccommend it etc?

    A lot of websites seem to have these ads but I wonder how profitable are they?

    Just in case you don't know, you only get paid for the number of clicks on the ads. You don't get paid just by having them on your site.

    For the average, personal website I'd say its not worth the effort but if you see alot of traffic on your site then maybe..

    Do you know how much it is per click?

    I don't think they look too bad if you lay your website out properly. If you have columns especially you can fit them in neatly.

    anywhere from 0.02 cents upwards. I've seen graphic adds pay out well over a dollar. Also Goole Promos like Google Monetised, Get Google Toolbar with Firefox (Or the other way round>) Pay out a fixed rate of 1 dollar but only IF someone downloads and installs firefox with google tool bar following the click on your add.

    You need a busy site to make anything but the basic traffic to click rating on average are anywhere from .2%minimum to 4%maximum of traffic through your site. I currently have a click through rate of about .9% to 1.2% average, which isn't bad but then not good. It depends on your traffic.

    The really bug sites make mega bucks of course but theres big costs involved in that though. To make any decent return your probably looking at getting an 500k uniques per month. Thats the hard bit, not making the site and sticking adds in.

    Getting traffic to your site is the hard bit and frankly as stated not really worth it for a personal site. You'll be lucky to make 50-100us a year. If you make that a month (About 50-75k uniques) then your doing well...

    :)

    I think people are being unduly negative. I do about 300 a month on AdSense, and the site, while popular, is not amazingly so.

    You make $300 per month. That seems very good.

    How much of a return would you expect from 100000 visitors per month? Roughly speaking.

    Impossible to say; too dependent on site topic. My site is in a low-earning area (<15c per click); if it was about penis enlargement or mortgages or something (>$2 a click) I'd be rich!

    Would you know off hand what area gambling, betting, horse racing comes under? I would assume less than 15 cent per click also.:(

    If they did it, no doubt it would be quite high-earning. They don't allow it, though, American views on those pastimes being what they are.

    There seems to be plenty of those ads on uk sites anyway. Example: www.laytheodds.com . Anyway, thanks for your help, its worth a go anyway. Nothing ventured nothing gained.:D

    Ah, maybe they've relaxed the rules a bit; they used to be very fussy. Yep, give it a go!

    Not according to there terms of service, they were changed not long back again - if anything they've got stricter from what I've seen. But the net is a big place and they can't catch them all.

    edit: I'd say those box adds they have below the googles there also infringe on googles terms of service. They used to have a thing about displaying adds 'Of a similar layout scheme as them'.

    Must go read there terms of service - see if they've changed anything of late...

    edit 2

    yeah this bit
    Competitive Ads and Services

    We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. If you have elected to receive contextually-targeted Google ads, this would include all other contextually-targeted ads or links on the same page as Google ads. This would also include ads throughout the site that mimic Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads. If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

    And then theres
    Site Content

    Site may not include:

    * Excessive profanity
    * Violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organization
    * Hacking/cracking content
    * Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
    * Pornography, adult, or mature content
    * Gambling or casino-related content

    Last one covers that site mentioned..

    Don't you have to pay tax on your earnings too?

    Er, yes, of course. What an odd question.

    Paypal say the same but they actual ignore it. Its just to cover themselves. At the end of the day if they can make money from your site then they will do business. Me thinks.
