i have jus started to get into making music on my pc but have no idea of how to generate bass and other instuments any suggestion of a program which i could use.i am curently using ableton and acoustica beatmaker/mixcraft. cheers

Get some softsynth demos and play around for a bit. I recommend the Arturia ones and most Native Instrument ones are pretty good.
