Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

let say that six fu*ked up her mission and the defence grid worked properly but the cylons still attacked but the Colonional forces were ready for it , how do u think the war would pan out?

personally i think the cylons would still win because their machines who can manufacture fighters, troops at a greater rate that humans , but the losses would be far more higher

If the defense grid wasn't down, then they wouldn't have attacked until they had found a way to bring it down some other way.

Does it ever say what exactly the Defense Grid is? Is it a big shield protecting the planets, or big honkin' space guns ala The Tolan from SG1? Maybe it was just an early warning system that would have allowed them to get all the Battlestars up and ready. It seems like the Cylon's easily took out all the Battlestars anyway. Always wondered about this... for about two minutes.

There was no Defence Grid mentioned, it was the Defence Mainframe, ie a computer network. Most likely an early warning system.

I thought it was a unified command and control system that oversaw every defensive element in the fleet - from the Battlestars down.

Presumably the other battlestars were incapacitated the same way the Viper Mark 7s were.

And despite their clear ability to build ships quickly, the cylons couldn't replicate them forever and their clearly of inferior quality.

Um, no it wasn't some big shield around the planets, by getting in to the mainframe the cylons were able to hack in to every defense system, battlestar and viper in the galaxy (cept bsg because its defense system was never updated) and completely immobalise them before they could attack.
I think it's fairly obvious that without this, the colonials would have won the war, we've seen bsg (the oldest of the battlestars) take heavy fire and still manage to destroy basestars etc, and we've seen pegasus take fire from 3 basestars at once, and destroy one of them.

The defence mainframe (A COMPUTER SYSTEM) controlled the Battlestars and their Vipers navigation, weapons everything basically, with access to it the Cylons could turn off battlestars or vent oxygen, whatever they wanted really. If they didnt have access to the mainframe they would have basically had to have fought 300 or so Battlestars like Pegasus(300 because in the first episode its said that 150 are destroted in the initial attackand that they are half of the fleet) .

    So now ya know!
