Commercial Insurance

My wife has been walking dogs for the past 8 months and finally got a commercial Nissan Terrano II to ship the dogs to and from parks etc.

She has been driving for the past 12 years or more and never had any claims - except for a minor scratch that she got fixed up a couple of months ago to a door or her old car (which she got fixed because she wanted to sell it, and it's now sold). The claim did not effect her no claims bonus etc.

The cost of the claim was €1,200 in total - we could have got it fixed cheaper but the insurance company recommended we use this particular garage.

She is now being told that she can't get commercial insurance on the car because of her previous claim!

Has anyone else had this type of experience with insurance companies or know where we can go to get insurance?

She doesn't need commercial insurance if she's not using the vehicle for commercial purposes. If it's only for knockin' around with the dogs in, social domestic and pleasure will cover it.

Well, the thing is, she does use it for commercial purposes - dog walking is her business.

The reason she got the car was for the cheaper tax, insurance and it's a diesel (along with the fact that her other car was getting wrecked with all the animals).
