Hi just wondering if its worth my while downloading 3dmark06 or should I go with 3dmark05. I want to use it as a comparison test while i'm overclocking this system, which one would be the best to show improvements?

    My system is:
    2 x WD Caviar 250GB SATA2 16MB (RAID 0)
    AMD 3700+ @ 2.2GHz
    Asus A8N-SLI
    TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB
    BFG NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB PCI-E

doesnt really matter if you are doing a comparison as you should notice an increase in either version, it will just be a lower increase with the 06 version

Well here ya go.. BOOM! A whopping 2496, oh yeah. Lets see anyone get lower than that.

    3dm0611wc.th.jpg

It will be interesting to see how the score changes once i begin overclocking.

Hummm....the CPU overclock really makes a difference to the score. My 7900GTX's should beat your 7800GTX by a small margin ( are you overclocking them also?) But your CPU overclock really hammers mine. Interesting but I am not as ballsey with my new processor as you so I think I will conciede defeat

    Thats nothing.

My first PC was a 386 sx 16mhz with 2megs ram and a 40gb hard drive, a vga colour monitor running dos 4.1. I got my first modem in 1992, which was 1200 baud, or 0.12kbps - it was fun.

However, my first computer was a BBC B that featured an 8mhz processor, 32k of ram and I had a single density floppy drive that would store in the region of 170k of data. When we got it, we had to type in the basic code for some of the games... and program them ourselves. Instead of cover disks, we got games in magazines we could type in and play.

My friends used to come around to my house to play games like Chuckie Egg... and the one I remember the most; Elite.

    Those were the days.

Now I have a few PCs:

Main Desktop: P4-3.2mhz / 1meg cache / 2gb DDR2 533 Ram / 2 x 250 SATA 7200RPM Hard drives, and an Nvidia FX1300 graphics card, plus another Nvidia Quadro NVS 280 card, with 1 x 2005FPW dell widescreen monitor, with another two 1704FPW dell 17 inch monitors, one each side, thus I have an ultra wide desktop.

Server in Progress: have a Dual Xeon 3.2Mhz with 2meg caches each / 1gb Ram / 80gb SCSI HD... in progress.

    And I have a latitude x200 / p3-933 / 384megs ram / 30gb hd - mini laptop

And I have 2 x P4-2.4Mhz / 512 / 40gb machines (one soon to have a 250gb machine) that I use to play my MP3s in different rooms - one with a 17 inch Dell LCD, and the other plugged into a SVGA DLP Projector.

    And I have 2 x P4-1.7 Mhz / 256 / 20gb machines (soon to be used for them there MP3s)

I'm thinking of getting a 7900GT but I'm not going to until I have a few things done; because gaming might take up too much time.

turbot's right.....apart from PC does anyone remember those little games that came while your main game was loading off the tape. Had a amstrad CPC464 with its own green scale monitor.....legend. Its amazing how far computers have come in the last 15 years and how much they have dropped in price.
