    Hi,

Im trying to find out about RSS feeds, how to use them basically.

I want to have news and sport features on my website using RSS feeds.

Do I need to learn XML programming? What other skills are needed and what is the best way to go about it (software etc)?

Seems like a great feature for any website and I notice that a lot of brodcasters are using this.

Why do you want one? Are you going to create a feed so that others can use your data or are you going to use someone elses feed?

I want to display someone else's feed on my website. I just want to do it to beef up my website. So I want to say take news from Sky News , sport from BBC/RTE etc and display the feed on my website.

    Thanks,

Read the parent sites info - some supply feeds in different formats, not just as an xml file, including JavaScript and you just need to copy/paste a bit of code...

There are other options such as http://www.tickermyfeed.com/
    http://rssfeedreader.com/
    http://www.rss-to-javascript.com/p/RSSRDF-Converter___138.html

If you are unfamiliar with it all then this will make a good start.
