DVD Burner Problem

I've a problem with my dvd-r/rw. It keeps insisting that the blank 4.7Gb dvds are only between 1.3 & 2Gb in size. I've tried two different makes of disc with same result. Any idea whats causing this problem?

I though it might be a virus but Norton isn't showing anything and yeah it's up-to-date.

Could be the drive firmaware needs an update or could be ur nero needs an update.

While ur at it it may be worth getting reagon free firmware

I was doing those Linux *.iso files no bother, then I shut down for the night and next day tried to continue burning disc and no joy. Would Nero or firmware just give up the ghost like that?

Where is the capacity state? (i.e. Where are you reading only 1.3~2GB?)
What make/model is the drive?
What are you currently using to burn to disc? (Clear it's cache?)
Re-install the optical drive's driver?
Have you successfully used the same media before? (If no: Firmware upgrade is the way to go tbh)

Ok it shouldnt do that if the media is the same as what you used last night ?

Firmware problem is unlikeley if it is the same media.

Id need to do some digging on the pc to see what could be causing it

That cache thing might be the problem. How do I clear that in Nero?

Temp folder usually. (Check against HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Cache)

What does InfoTool.exe report (re: disc capacity,in particular)?
