Okay im not sure if others know about this or not (not the others, damn lost fans) but one night ages ago i typed in my browser member.boards.ie and up pops boards.ie as normal and when i realised my spelling mistake in the address i went to correct it but then i thought "can i browse on this" so i tried it and it worked,…

Okay im not sure if others know about this or not (not the others, damn lost fans) but one night ages ago i typed in my browser member.boards.ie and up pops boards.ie as normal and when i realised my spelling mistake in the address i went to correct it but then i thought "can i browse on this" so i tried it and it worked, and since then when www.boards.ie has gone a bit slow or some error crops up i turn to member.boards.ie, now i know that there are other servers out there for boards such as muppet.boards.ie which is the members.boards.ie fileserver (right?) but i was wondering if the member.boards.ie is something that shouldn't be used or what? I love posting and reading on boards (ever since my brother Chief registered me with the nick Scrapper ages ago, but i forgot the password and it was also the password to the email that the nick was registered, hence why im now r0ot) and id hate to use something on it that i shouldn't be using. Any info on this would be much appreciated.

[noparse]http://zomghax.boards.ie[/noparse] is not to be used. All others are ok.

LOL ive just realised that i can type anything before the .boards.ie hehe yes im an idiot, us engineering students are all alike. But why do these 'alternatives' run faster than the regular www.boards.ie ??

You will find that if you link to a post while linking to [noparse]http://member.boards.ie[/noparse] that it will have the url beginning with [noparse]http://member.boards.ie[/noparse]

There is nothing wrong with this, you wont break anything by doing this but if you wanted to highlight another thread by linking to it, a visitor will find that on the new window of boards that pops up, they will not be logged in.

example I will link to this thread
[noparse]http://billythesquid.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054913686[/noparse]

linking to another thread while logged in to member.boards.ie rather than www.boards.ie might create a little inconvenience for some users as they would have to log in again to post on that thread but does not cause any damage.

Use the tags for external links, use the [thread] and [post] tags for linking within boards.
