Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After years of screaching dial up i've decided to go to broadband now i have a new laptop.

I want to set up a little wireless network in the gaff...my dumb question is..does a router plug into a normal bog standard phone line or will i need to get upgraded or anything?

Well you need a DSL enabled line to plug into a DSL router. The physical line will look the same tho'.

'Good' doesn't mean DSL enabled. Did you sign up for broadband?

The BB supplier will supply you (some for FREE) a DSL modem, some if not all now have a router included and you have the option of getting a wireless version of same sometimes at an extra cost sometimes not, depends who you go with.

This modem plugs into the WAN port of your router and you would set the router in the modem (if there is one) to bridge mode and let your own router do the PPoE bit, providing of course that it had this function not forgetting to only have one DHCP server active and making sure that NAT is only done by one device. :)

If you sign up for broadband, then a cable goes from your phone socket into your router, which looks like a normal phone cable. You can then hook your router up to your PC via a network or ethernet cable. If you have a PC with a wireless network card, you can then communicate with the router if it also also has wireless abilities, without any cables.

    Hope this helps.
