Looking for peoples opinions on the above. My mate is looking to buy a 97-98 Coupe and we went to see this one today...

    http://www.cbg.ie/Car_detail.asp?CBGID=374600&ID=631458&NumPics=3&Make=Hyundai&Model=Coupe%20FX&frmFilter=All#

Neither of us had driven one before nor even sat in one....but although the cars exterior was near perfect it drove like a 96 corolla !! (Nothing against corollas, but you get my drift!) It was allegedly a 2 litre but honestly it was very poor, no poke in it whatsoever and had a really bad sound ticking over...sales dude said it was the tapets and there was no remedy.
Has anybody ever driven one? Are they really so bad to drive? Even at 100k on the clock we would have expected more.

Is our experience par for the course with these cars or was it a bad example?? Cheers, Siz :)

mileage is a bit high at 100k, but to be expected on a 97. They are all fairly rubbish to frive, even the newer 2.7 doesn't feel that quick. that's true about the engine noise, they all do that.

€5,950 is a bit steep though,

this is more realistically priced at €3950

Good man. If they all drive like that then Im amazed cos it was a dirtbox. The sales lad said "you have to get it on the motorway to open it up and appreciate it" LOL....ehhh I dont think so when there was all of 70bhp available!

look at the one I posted, you shouldn't buy a Hyundai Coupe without lowered suspension. Apart from less roly-poly handling, it gets rid of that huge gap in the wheel arches
