Seat Ibiza - Sticky clutch

I test drive three different Seat Ibiza's today (Stella, 1.4, 2x2000 1x1999)and one yesterday, all of them had a very stiff clutch , one didnt release smoothly at all as if the cable was frayed inside and catching.

Is this a common thing with these , or just a feature?

I also drove a Leon and the clutch was fine on that (2000).

Must say I really like the drive of the Ibiza but have been very put off by the clutch movement, is it normal and something people just get used too?

Yeah that tends to happen on all the vw type cars

    Ah, thanks knife_fighter.
Is it expensive to fix or just a straightforward cable swap do you know?

Test drove an Ibiza ('00) a few months back and the clutch kept slipping in and out. At one stage there was pathetic acceleration in 2nd and then a few minutes later great gusto in 4th. That made my mind up anyhow
